Ugly fish picture8/4/2023 His replacement is the brash Detective Mills (Brad Pitt), an optimistic young recruit eager to learn, who Somerset takes under his wing. Detective Somerset (Morgan Freeman) is on the verge of retirement, where he plans to leave his inner-city life behind him after years of fighting on the side of good. ![]() But, set in an unnamed and permanently drizzly American city, Se7en is a meditation on evil and a pessimist's depiction on the modern world, climaxing in one of the bravest and most memorable endings in Hollywood history. Se7en appears to begin as your typical detective neo- noir, with the cynical veteran and the naive rookie taking on an elusive serial killer seemed hell-bent on turning the sin against the sinner. The second one however was probably dumped earlier since it is included among the dailies and outtakes and the first one appears as a deleted scene.Īfter his calamitous experience working on his début film Alien 3 (1992), David Fincher took on a small genre picture that, little did he know, would revitalise his career and become one of the greatest films of the 1990's. She knows that Somerset is much more sensible than her husband, and will understand her. These two scenes establish Somerset's characters better, and the second one helps the viewer understand why the wife chooses Somerset to talk to when she gets pregnant. She tells him that it wouldn't be such a good idea to show it to David, saying "He wouldn't understand.". He tells her about the house and shows her the wallpaper. There is an extended scene at the Mills' when David (Brad Pitt) is playing with his dogs, and Somerset talks to Tracy. He uses his switchblade (seen many times in the final cut, but not explained) to cut out a small piece of wallpaper. USA laserdisc edition adds a few scenes deleted from theatrical release as a bonus at the end of the program, including: a prologue where Somerset (Morgan Freeman) is going to buy a country house. What I've done is going to be puzzled over and studied and followed. We tolerate it because it's common, it's trivial. We see a deadly sin on every street corner, in every home, and we tolerate it. ![]() A drug dealer, a drug dealing pederast, actually! And let's not forget the disease-spreading whore! Only in a world this shitty could you even try to say these were innocent people and keep a straight face. so ugly on the inside she couldn't bear to go on living if she couldn't be beautiful on the outside. This is a man who dedicated his life to making money by lying with every breath that he could muster to keeping murderers and rapists on the streets!ĭavid Mills: Murderers, John, like yourself? After him, I picked the lawyer and I know you both must have been secretly thanking me for that one. a disgusting man who could barely stand up a man who if you saw him on the street, you'd point him out to your friends so that they could join you in mocking him a man, who if you saw him while you were eating, you wouldn't be able to finish your meal. John Doe: Innocent? Is that supposed to be funny? An obese man. A female will carry six or more males on her body.David Mills: Wait, I thought all you did was kill innocent people. Over time, the male physically fuses with the female, connecting to her skin and bloodstream and losing his eyes and all his internal organs except the testes. When a young, free-swimming male angler encounters a female, he latches onto her with his sharp teeth. In lieu of continually seeking the vast abyss for a female, it has evolved into a permanent parasitic mate. The male, which is significantly smaller than the female, has no need for such an adaptation. Their mouths are so big and their bodies so pliable, they can actually swallow prey up to twice their own size. Tipped with a lure of luminous flesh this built-in rod baits prey close enough to be snatched. Their most distinctive feature, worn only by females, is a piece of dorsal spine that protrudes above their mouths like a fishing pole-hence their name. Most however are significantly smaller, often less than a foot. Some angler fish can be quite large, reaching 3.3 feet in length. Generally dark gray to dark brown in color, they have huge heads and enormous crescent-shaped mouths filled with sharp, translucent teeth. There are more than 200 species of anglerfish, most of which live in the murky depths of the Atlantic and Antarctic oceans, up to a mile below the surface, although some live in shallow, tropical environments. It is quite possibly the ugliest animal on the planet, and it lives in what is easily Earth's most inhospitable habitat: the lonely, lightless bottom of the sea. ![]() The angry-looking deep sea anglerfish has a right to be cranky.
